Two days dedicated to food education, two precious opportunities to teach the little ones the importance of a healthy, balanced and quality diet . This is the goal of the initiative promoted by the Department of Public Education, in collaboration with Compass Group Italia, which will feature students from two city schools.
The appointments are set for Monday, March 10, at 10 am, at the primary school in via dei Nasturzi (IC n. 6-3), and for Monday, March 24, again at 10 am, at the one in via Beethoven (IC n. 4). Two appointments in which not only will we talk about proper nutrition, but we will offer children and their families a direct experience with local producers, true custodians of taste and authenticity.
At the heart of the initiative will be the dialogue with those who, every day, are committed to bringing fresh, genuine and sustainable products to our tables . Thanks to the participation of Coldiretti and Campagna Amica, with the president Fabrizio Tocco, children will be able to get to know the agricultural realities of the territory up close.
Among the guests, Felice Contu, who will tell the story of Coalbe, a Sardinian company founded in 1972 and specialized in the production of genuine meats, a symbol of quality and tradition. Alongside him, the Consorzio Agro Bio Rete, a point of reference for the cultivation and distribution of organic fruit and vegetables at km 0, coming from lands that respect the highest standards of environmental sustainability.
Special attention will be given to the Mediterranean diet, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity . A dietary model that is not only a nutritional choice, but a real lifestyle, based on the consumption of seasonal fruit and vegetables, cereals, fish, olive oil and legumes, with a more moderate use of meat.
The students will also have the opportunity to taste the raw materials presented during the meeting, familiarizing themselves with the authentic flavors of the local tradition and deepening their knowledge of the foods that they find every day in the school canteen dishes.
"We believe it is essential to work closely with schools to develop projects that raise awareness among children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and a balanced diet," emphasizes the Councilor for Public Education, Cinzia Carta, "thanks to the availability of the school canteen concessionaire and the nutritionist, we are carrying out a high-quality school catering service, attentive to the needs of children and families. A special thanks goes to the schools, which have enthusiastically welcomed this proposal, thus contributing to promoting the well-being of our students."
