A special birthday for the Quartu Pro Loco, which is preparing to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Sixty years of history, spent spreading traditions. For the occasion, the association has chosen not just one celebration, but several initiatives throughout the summer, continuing a journey that will continue for a long time to come.

"It will be a special summer, full of events, emotions, and shared moments, to pay tribute to those who have contributed to the history of our association and those who continue to build its future," says Pro Loco President Stefano Lai, recently elected for the second term. "This important milestone will not be celebrated in a single day, but will accompany all the events of summer 2026, which will be dedicated to celebrating these 60 years of activity and service to the community. 60 years together, looking to the future without forgetting our roots."

Among the historic presidents of this long journey is Efisio Protto, recently appointed president of the arbitrators, who will lead the association from 2024 (when the record number of 750 members was reached) to 2022.

"I have so many fond memories of these years," says Protto. "We created the Quartese bread festival, we were the first city to organize it, we brought the most important traditional masks to the carnival. The Pro Loco is a very important association that represents culture and traditions, and represents all the citizens of Quartese."

And the Pro Loco, which manages the initiatives at the former Carabinieri barracks on Via Roma, is already hard at work organizing all the summer events that, as always, will take place in various areas of the city and the coast: from the Notti in Musica festival to the suckling pig festival, from the fish festival to the Quartu beer fest.
