New developments are coming to the city's waste sorting system: starting January 1st, the measurement of each taxpayer's dry waste will begin . "This is another reason to raise awareness among citizens, pending the City Council's determination of the pay-as-you-throw rate," the City Hall's Environment Department announced.

This innovation is part of regional regulations that recognize incentives for the cost of the unsorted waste fraction delivered. This represents a step forward, aiming to reduce service management costs and improve the quality of the urban environment, benefiting the entire community. Quartu is already a virtuous city in terms of separate waste collection, with a rate of 82%, which has steadily increased in recent years, and the aim is to further increase this figure.

The electronic reading system associated with each Tari user is already present in the bins distributed a few years ago by De Vizia, the company responsible for the city's urban hygiene service: each bin will therefore allow for the calculation of the waste disposed of, without the possibility of error and also ensuring rapid updating of the IT platform.

" Every citizen must be empowered to pay their dues, challenging and holding accountable those who attempt to evade their duties, " emphasizes Deputy Mayor Tore Sanna. "This system allows for detailed knowledge of our territory and the reality of the entire urban waste management sector. In the near future, we aim to ensure increasingly fair rates, no longer based on the size of the home and the number of occupants, but rather on the amount of waste each household produces."
