Paid parking also went into effect a day ago on the Quartu stretch of Poetto, but that wasn't enough : on the June 2nd holiday, parking chaos is already rampant. Between construction sites and new green spaces , finding a spot to park your car is nearly impossible.

The luckiest ones were those who arrived early in the morning: umbrellas and chairs in tow, and by 7 a.m. they were already on the beach. But for everyone else, it was an odyssey.

"I agree with the need for green spaces, and I also agree with the redevelopment work to make the seafront more beautiful," says beachgoer Arianna Concas, "but it's clear to everyone that there's not enough parking. Yesterday I went to the beach at 10 a.m. and drove around five times looking for a spot to park my car. There wasn't a single free spot, not even in the blue-lined spaces, so I ended up going to another beach on the coast."

And as always, unauthorized parking has taken hold, with cars left everywhere between traffic islands and illegal parking. Something should be resolved in the coming weeks when the City opens the large dirt lot in front of the Lido Mediterraneo to parking, which will accommodate over a hundred cars.

There were also problems at Mari Pintatu, where those who managed to get there after having endured long queues under the sun due to the Terna construction site had to, as usual, leave their cars on the coastal road and even on bends due to the chronic lack of parking spaces in front of the pearl of the Quartu coast, which this year again received the Blue Flag.
