Alarm went off last night on Via Cagliari in Quartu. A short circuit engulfed a room housing a painter's workshop next to a sweets shop.

The fire was fueled by a wooden cabinet in a room. The firefighters' prompt intervention prevented further damage. A blanket of black smoke enveloped the street, forcing residents to close their windows and stay indoors.

This morning, many people were busy cleaning the soot-covered balconies. Ambulances also arrived on the scene, but fortunately, no one was inside.

For reasons unrelated to the fire, public lighting in the area between Via Marconi, Via Brigata Sassari, and Via Cagliari was also out, resulting in long lines of streetlights going out and causing disruption.
