Quartu: An old, unsafe kiosk on Via Marconi has been demolished; residents' petition has been accepted.

The curtain falls on the old kiosk that once housed a newsstand, located inside the small park between Via Marconi and Via Merello in Quartu.

After reports, protests, and petitions, this morning it was torn down and removed by satisfied residents who had long been waiting for the measure.

The structure was in critical condition and there was a risk that it could collapse at any moment on those who frequent the green area, which is why the Municipality had already issued an ordinance in previous months requiring the owners, who still held the concession, to demolish it.

But the order was not complied with, and so yesterday, to avoid any risk to public safety, a company commissioned by the Municipality intervened and will dispose of the waste in a designated landfill. All costs will then, of course, be passed on to the concessionaires.

The former kiosk had recently been vandalized and set on fire several times . Residents, who had long called for its removal and had started a petition, were satisfied. Among the requests was the removal of the used clothing bins, which had been turned into landfills but are still there, raided daily by uncivilized people. These uncivilized people also leave dog waste on the lawn, creating a sludge heap.
