He had convinced them to sign a fake electricity supply contract and to give him cash to pay alleged bills . But thanks to his daughter's intuition and the timely intervention of the officers from the Flying Squad of the Quartu Sant'Elena Police Station, the scam was foiled and a 25-year-old was arrested .

On Tuesday, March 10, officers responded to the home of an elderly couple after receiving a report of a young man who had previously defrauded them. According to the couple, some time earlier, the twenty-five-year-old had shown up at their home posing as an employee of a well-known Italian electricity supplier. Trusting him and with his "help," they signed a supply contract.

Unable to find the bill, they contacted him again, and the man offered to settle the bill in cash at a cheaper rate than the one indicated, explaining that the offer would only be valid if the payment was made directly to him. The next day, they were contacted by another alleged operator, who informed them of a €1,600 debt to the energy supplier and announced that a representative would be sent to resolve the situation.

Shortly thereafter, the 25-year-old returned to the couple's home, offering to pay off the debt: €500 upfront, with the remainder paid in €20 installments. The couple handed over the money, but the young man never returned to collect the remainder. Suspicious of her parents' story, the daughter contacted the electricity company directly, only to discover it was a scam. On the morning of March 10, the young man showed up again at the elderly couple's home to demand payment of additional bills. At that point, the couple notified their daughter, who immediately contacted 112. Officers from the Quartu Police Station arrived on the scene and arrested the 25-year-old, who has numerous criminal records, on charges of attempted aggravated fraud. The young man is under house arrest with an electronic tag.
