Fear erupted on Sant'Andrea beach on Via Taormina, along the Quartu coast. A swimmer who had ventured far from the shore to swim found himself in difficulty and nearly drowned. He began screaming, attracting the attention of other swimmers and, in particular, the lifeguard from the sea rescue service provided by the Municipality and operated by the Sub Sinnai association, who immediately jumped into the water to help him. Fortunately, he was brought to shore and recovered almost immediately.

The Carabinieri and air ambulance also arrived on the scene, fearing something more serious. The sea wasn't particularly rough, but evidently, being about 300 meters from shore, the swimmer, a 46-year-old man from Cagliari, was in difficulty and unable to swim back.

Another rescue operation took place in recent days at Poetto, where a 25-year-old French tourist nearly drowned in the waters of the Lido beach near the firefighters' establishment. He was immediately brought to shore by the lifeguard. The alarm was raised by the Cagliari 118 operations center at 4:00 PM. The Areus advanced rescue vessel then rushed to the scene, and the team performed advanced resuscitation, allowing the young tourist's stopped heart to start beating again after a few minutes. The boy, transported with critical condition to the Brotzu emergency room, is now doing well.
