The people of Cagliari are largely satisfied with living in their city. A level of satisfaction that exceeds 90% and which makes the Sardinian capital one of the Italian cities where residents perceive the highest quality of life , together with Trento, Trieste, Bergamo, Brescia and Bolzano.

This is what emerges from the latest survey "Quality of life in European cities" , conducted by the European Commission with the contribution of Istat .

One of the "pluses" that makes the people of Cagliari more satisfied, the survey highlights, is the availability of green spaces such as parks and gardens and places to be outdoors , which make over 80% of residents "happy". On the other hand, satisfaction with healthcare services is between 30% and 40% .

Furthermore: the people of Cagliari are on average satisfied with the cultural infrastructures , such as concert halls, theatres, museums and libraries present in the city.

SASSARI – In addition to Cagliari, the study also takes into consideration Sassari among the cities of Sardinia.

In this case the survey highlights how the satisfaction of the people of Sassari does not exceed 81% and also highlights that the residents of the Turritana city believe that the quality of life in their city has worsened in the last five years.

As in the case of Cagliari, there is also dissatisfaction in Sassari with regards to health services and public transport.

AIR AT THE TOP – It should also be underlined that both the people of Cagliari and the people of Sassari consider the air quality of their city to be excellent, with satisfaction data at the top even at a European level .

In the survey, respondents were asked to indicate their level of satisfaction with the air quality of their city. And in the first two places in this ranking we find Cagliari and Sassari (with, respectively, 90.9% and 89.5% of residents satisfied with the air quality), followed by Helsinki (Finland), Rostock ( Germany), Reggio Calabria, Oulu (Finland), Aalborg (Denmark), Bialystok (Poland), Perugia.

ADMINISTRATION – Returning to the negative aspects, in the two Sardinian cities a low efficiency of the local public administration is perceived, a fact common with many centers in Sicily and more generally in the South. Furthermore, between 40 and 50% of the citizens of Cagliari and Sassari believe that a corruption problem exists in the local public administration itself.

SAFETY – Finally, the researchers asked the city residents (26 in Italy, 85 at EU level) interviewed whether they feel safe walking alone on the streets at night .

The people from Cagliari who answered yes do not exceed 59%, while the people from Sassari who are not afraid of walking around their city at night are less than 43%.

TRENTO AT THE TOP – Looking at the data at a national level, at the top of the ranking of cities where residents are most satisfied with the quality of life we find Trento (also at the top at a European level) , while at the bottom is Taranto , which records the lowest level of satisfaction among the 26 Italian capitals taken into consideration by the survey.
