The buses are forced to stop well before entering the archaeological excavations , and to visit the wonders of Nora tourists must continue on foot. The problem, encountered by the thousands of visitors who each year reach the archaeological excavations among the most important on the island, is aggravated in the summer, when tourists in the sun get off the bus before the roundabout and continue on foot to the site.
The mayor, Walter Cabasino , explains why reaching the entrance to the excavations directly by bus is impossible for a number of reasons: “Above all, the problem linked to the width of the road, certainly not suitable for the transit of such large vehicles. The vehicles that transport tourists have always stopped in the open space in front of the roundabout, before the access ban: a few years ago we made very specific choices, avoiding the cars reaching the excavations to preserve the beauty of these places. All in all, I believe that visitors do not have to travel a long way on foot, it is a small sacrifice which in any case offers the view of a beautiful panorama ".
