Water projects worth tens of millions of euros are at risk of being halted due to a power outage: connections and network maintenance are lacking. This is the complaint of the Sardinian government agency (Egas), which this morning, at its headquarters in Cagliari, summoned E-Distribuzione, an Enel group company, to account.

EGAS President Fabio Albieri and General Manager Andrea Cappelli attended the press conference. " We are in a paradoxical situation, to say the least," Albieri said. "We have a series of projects completed or nearing completion, carried out by Abbanoa, that cannot be put into operation due to the lack of power. This is an unacceptable situation, because it involves an integrated water service and environmental protection, and it creates problems and costs for the entire system."

General Manager Cappelli reconstructed the status of the various interventions and technical discussions, highlighting that this is not a single isolated case, but rather multiple projects spread across the region, for which power supply is a crucial step. Among the most paradoxical consequences, Egas noted the possibility of having to start up some plants with diesel generators.

"Thinking of building modern, strategic infrastructure and then being forced to run it with diesel generators is a contradiction," Albieri declared. "It would mean sustaining extremely high costs, as well as producing an environmental impact incompatible with the very objectives of these investments."

The Agency also criticized the lack of stable contact points. "The contact points change constantly and haven't given us any definitive answers," Albieri explained. "Hence the need to publicly report the situation, also to inform citizens and institutions."

The request is for an immediate discussion on the outstanding issues, with precise and verifiable dates for each intervention. The president has not ruled out legal action. "Our interest is to resolve the problems and restore the facilities, not to start a dispute," he concluded, "but there is a limit beyond which we have a duty to protect the Authority, the operator, the administrations, and above all, the citizens. If these delays were to result in increased costs, damage, or consequences for the continuity of an essential public service, we will evaluate all initiatives in the appropriate forums."
