«Pride passes, with its colors, its slogans and its messages, but homophobia and contempt do not».
This is how the President of the Regional Council, Piero Comandini, began his remarks the day after the large, colorful parade that swept through Cagliari in the name of demanding rights and equality.
"You only have to read the shameful comments circulating online these days to realize that, unfortunately, discrimination continues to be the norm," the Democratic Party representative reflects, "that 'politics should be concerned with other rights,' that 'the bakeries are always open.'"
As if there were a ranking of rights "and that history has taught us nothing", accuses Comandini, addressing the authors of the comments.
The truth, he maintains, " is that we still have a great need for respect for all people who want to love each other freely, without feeling judged, insulted, discriminated against, physically and verbally attacked, or isolated. This is why I will continue to climb on that bandwagon and push the many bands from which to defend the many freedoms still denied."
