The strong mistral wind , with gusts of over 100 kilometres per hour, caused the moorings of the Tirrenia ship Athara to break , having remained moored at the quayside of the Porto Torres maritime port since yesterday, Wednesday 11 February.

Pilots are currently working on the operation, coordinated by the Porto Torres Port Authority, along with Coast Guard vessels and two tugboats escorting the ferry away from the port . The vessel will remain at anchor while waiting for improved weather and sea conditions.

The Turritan maritime police also provided support in the port.

The strong wind broke the cables holding the ship anchored to the western quay.

Today, the port is almost deserted due to the cancellation of Grimaldi Cruise Line sailings. Meanwhile, the Moby Tommy has been diverted to the port of Genoa.
