The tree located in the green area in front of the Basilica of San Gavino in Porto Torres succumbed to the gale . Gusts of over 80 kilometers per hour tore off a large branch , which fortunately landed within the fenced area.

The shrub , along with part of its crown, could not withstand the strong mistral wind that has been raging for several days now and broke, falling onto the wooden fence . Every year during the Christmas season, the area hosts a life-size wooden nativity scene created by craftsman Fabrizio Budroni. The area is particularly evocative due to the presence of the thousand-year-old Romanesque church dedicated to the Holy Martyrs.

The bad weather continues to cause disruption, especially for maritime connections between Porto Torres and Genoa. Due to adverse sea conditions, the port continues to be unable to receive ships. Westerly winds prevent ferries from traveling safely, with maneuvers making it difficult for them to enter the northwest port, a situation that is also causing difficulties for seafarers.
