Smoke levels within the legal limits, those detected by the control units located in the industrial area of Porto Torres and in the city center, following the fire that broke out last Monday, May 5, on the roof of the former Safisarda warehouse, in the artisanal sector of via Pigafetta.
The three control units positioned near the production area, in the Colombo bridge, near the Rosario roundabout and in the city centre, in via Pertini, did not detect any exceedance of the parameters which are within the norm.
A black cloud had risen to invade the area due to the fire started, probably, by a spark produced during the waterproofing works of the roof. The entire roof of the building was destroyed, but the timely intervention of the firefighters arrived from the provincial command of Sassari and the detachments of Alghero and Porto Torres, allowed to contain the flames and avoid further damage to the structure.
The black smoke blanket after an hour, from the extinguishing operations, had subsided and the sky had returned clear. The Arpas technicians, who intervened to evaluate the air quality, in the next few days, will deliver to the competent bodies the report on the measurements carried out.
