The first hearing with immediate trial at the Juvenile Court in Sassari, scheduled for January 22, 2026, for Emanuele Sircana, the 21-year-old from Porto Torres arrested last June for the murder of Mario Sedda, the 39-year-old poet killed on the night between March 29 and 30, 2021, in the green area outside the city.
As requested by the Sassari Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, the criminal trial has begun with sufficient evidence, according to the prosecution, to permit the initiation of the special trial, omitting the preliminary phase. The key witness's revelations , which occurred during the evidentiary hearing on October 8th, confirm what he previously told prosecutors Laura Bassani of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office and Angelo Beccu of the Prosecutor's Office, recounting the confidences allegedly made to him by the defendant, who has been held in the Quartucciu juvenile prison since last June.
Pietro Diaz, lawyer representing Eleonora Sedda, the victim's sister, and Alessandra Delrio, defense lawyer, will be present in the courtroom.
The investigation continues with the Cagliari RIS (Italian Special Investigative Unit) carrying out technical tests on the clothing worn by Sedda on the night of the crime, with the aim of gathering more clues and evidence that could lead investigators to find answers to such a brutal crime. It was April 1, 2021, when Mario Sedda's body was found hidden among the bushes in the gardens of Via Sassari, at the entrance to the city of Porto Torres. The autopsy revealed that the tip of a broken ceramic knife blade was embedded in the victim's face. The body also bore injuries caused by punches, kicks, and stones. The killer allegedly attacked the victim, torturing her and dousing her body with chemicals until it was completely disfigured.
