Sport and solidarity have been walking together for 16 years thanks to the event "Navicula Turritana and Sport for Research" which, having abandoned the old name of Barcolana, has not forgotten its charitable purpose. The event, organized by the Fidapa section of Porto Torres, is scheduled for Friday 28 and Saturday 29 July, starting at 5 pm, in the various locations chosen for the conduct of the sports tournaments and at the Scogliolungo, on the Turritan seafront, where the lights of the Torchlight procession will come on.

An initiative that retains its charm for the large chain of torches that from the canoes will reflect the light on the sea of the opposite beach. No referees are needed because there is no competitive spirit, just pure fun and solidarity. "The event was born in 2007 to raise funds to finance a donation to be allocated to research for the study of rare diseases, in memory of the partner Dr. Elisabetta Fara - explains Cristina Benenati, local president of Fidapa - this year the proceeds will be destined to the Porto Torres Consultory, gynecology and obstetrics clinics".

Various sports disciplines, from the more traditional team games to individual sports and the participation of the Piscine Libyssonis association, Asso Vela, Azen Kayak, the Italian Naval League, Gulf of Asinara section - Giuseppe Usai Rowing Group, Porto Torres Tennis Club, ASD Porto Torres Scacchi, Freedom Water Ssd association, Asd. Quadrifoglio Volleyball, Cngei Scout Porto Torres and Porto Torres Volunteer Consultation.

«The Navicula Turritana – underlined the Councilor for Sport and Tourism, Simona Fois – involves different realities of the territory, a synergy of associations that work together for a common goal. We are proud that this event is proposed once again in the city». Sporting events include table tennis tournaments, aqua fitness, volleyball, swimming, spinning, chess and table football tournaments.
