An entire area has been cordoned off with red and white tape to delimit the imposing, abandoned building on Via Azuni, not far from the main street of Porto Torres. This bulky structure is causing disruption to adjacent buildings, particularly the local Avis office.
Last night , falling debris from the cornice once again alarmed nearby structures , a dangerous situation that coincidentally did not affect pedestrians.
Once again , it was the local firefighters who intervened to secure the area . Using a ladder truck, the firefighters knocked down the unsafe part of the cornice and parts of the plaster on the sides of the building, a former depot owned by the Italian State Railways (FS), which was the subject of a dispute over the transfer of the property to the Regional Government and, subsequently, to the Municipality.
While waiting for the legal issue to be resolved, the risks of a building that continues to fall apart remain.
Local police officers were also present on site to regulate traffic.
