Visitors to the Quartu stretch of Poetto will soon have additional parking available. The process for opening a parking area is underway, which will be located in front of the Lido Mediterraneo on one of the dirt roads.

Parking was already planned as part of the Poetto redevelopment plan, but it was decided to open it early to address the chronic lack of parking along the Quartu stretch of the seafront. Parking is expected to be available in the coming weeks, when the already numerous beachgoers will significantly increase. The designated area will accommodate around 100 cars. The new parking spaces will be added to the existing free and paid parking.

In the meantime, the lack of parking is especially problematic on weekends, forcing many beachgoers to migrate to other beaches.

"As for me, I didn't have any problems on Sunday because I went to the beach very early," says beachgoer Serena Zedda. "Of course, if you're late, it's hard to find a spot. You have to resign yourself to getting up very early."

The parking problem also affects the Mari Pintau area, where, as every year, local police will intensify checks in the coming weeks to prevent the risk of accidents due to cars parked on the side of the road and even on bends. As previously announced, the introduction of a limited number of people on the beach, which also received the Blue Flag award this year, has been postponed until next season. A management plan is currently being developed and will hopefully be approved by the Region by the end of the year, and without it, it's impossible to implement a limited number of people on Mari Pintau beach. A bus service connecting all the beaches up to Mari Pintau will also begin operating in the coming days.
