The Union of Municipalities of Coros is raising the alarm over the disruptions related to the failure to collect plastic waste. On Saturday the 29th, it was the turn of the Municipality of Cheremule, where the company Formula Ambiente, responsible for urban waste management, announced that, due to the closure of the Tergu facility where plastic is collected, collection would not be carried out. It was also impossible to deliver waste to other facilities.
The crisis has also affected the town of Osilo. From Tuesday, December 2nd, until a date to be determined, given the crisis affecting recycling facilities, regular plastic and can collection will likely not be guaranteed, either through door-to-door collection or at drop-off centers.
The Union of Municipalities announced the news, ensuring timely updates. The difficulties are related to plastic production, which is deemed too expensive compared to purchasing virgin plastic. Therefore, recyclers have chosen to suspend and, in some cases, discontinue collection from sorting centers, a criticality that could lead to collection being halted in several municipalities.
