This morning, the judge of the Court of Nuoro, Francesca Lecis, decided to reserve her opinion on the request for participation in the trial by the Adesso Basta association and Anci Sardegna , within the scope of the proceedings initiated by Alessandro Satta against Anas.
The case concerns the tragic road accident that occurred on Christmas 2017, when the car driven by the young man in which Satta's cousins, Matteo and Francesco Pintor, were traveling, went off the road along the Trasversale Sarda (the state road 129 Nuoro-Macomer), ending up being pierced by the guard rail. A dramatic accident that caused the death of the two brothers. The trial aims not only to recognize responsibilities for what happened, but also to carry out a broader intervention on road infrastructure, with the intent of improving safety and preventing future accidents due to avoidable dangers.
In particular, Giovanni Pintor, who lost brothers in Christmas 2017 and was in that car, with the Adesso Basta association is asking for the barriers to be brought up to standard, which should have been adapted to the safety standards in the European legal system and directives since 2004, and aims to obtain justice for the victims and obtain concrete answers regarding the causes of the accident. The judge also declared that a technical consultant (CTU) will be appointed to examine the technical aspects related to the accident, including the evaluation of the road conditions and the guard rail, elements that could have influenced the dynamics of the accident and the severity of its consequences.
The trial, therefore, does not only concern the individual judicial aspect, but also touches on broader issues related to road safety, becoming a symbol of a fight to avoid similar tragedies in the future and to improve the infrastructure on the Sardinian road network. In the criminal case against the managers of Anas, Judge Giovanni Angelicchio, had closed the case without finding any fault in the field of the managers of the road authority.
