Giacomo Piras, a former councilor and current municipal councilor in Teulada, is the support administrator who ended up at the center of an embezzlement investigation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza , because he is accused of having stolen large amounts of money (up to 35 thousand euros) from an elderly person in the village.
The investigation stemmed from a complaint filed by the administrator's son , who allegedly discovered shortfalls in his elderly father's bank account between 2020 and 2023.
According to the Guardia di Finanza's allegations, all of which are yet to be verified by the court, the former councilor allegedly made several purchases and over 40 payments via POS terminal, purchasing building materials, fuel, and baby items, as well as spending money at opticians, auto parts stores, tire shops, and ice cream parlors.
Piras is also suspected of making approximately 80 cash withdrawals without justifiable cause. The Prosecutor's Office maintains that these transactions were unjustified given that the elderly man in his care was permanently resident in a nursing home.
The finance police executed a precautionary measure issued by prosecutor Gilberto Ganassi against the former councilor, seizing assets and properties, as well as accounts amounting to the entire sum that the Prosecutor's Office believes was unduly misappropriated.
