In recent days, the Alghero Border Police Office sent the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Sassari the final report on the investigation into the serious incident that occurred on the morning of December 11 in the departures hall of Alghero-Fertilia airport , when several passengers felt ill after inhaling pepper spray.

Investigative work and surveillance camera reviews have revealed evidence of liability against two individuals from the province of Sassari who, in concert, allegedly released the harmful substance , capable of causing eye and respiratory irritation. The product, introduced into the restricted area, up to the boarding gates, was never recovered, but investigators believe it to be a small irritant spray, the type sold over the counter as a deterrent or for personal defense.

The two are charged with causing alarm and interrupting a public service or public necessity , in conjunction with each other. The incident led to the suspension and delay of security and boarding operations , with repercussions on air transport services and the delayed departure of the flight to Rome, which had taken off almost an hour later than scheduled.
