Pediatric intensive care at Brotzu Hospital raises new concerns: "The appointment of a surgeon who works with construction sites is surprising."

Several questions are being raised regarding the project for the new Intensive Care Unit at the Arnas Brotzu hospital in Cagliari. The regional council group of Brothers of Italy is calling on President Alessandra Todde to provide more transparency and less "propaganda."
At the heart of the controversy is a recent resolution from the Department of Health, which—with timing described by councilors as suspicious—reportedly integrated the regional working group on the project yesterday.
«What is causing great concern is the presence of vascular surgeon Masotti within the institution: originally hired through a mobility program, he would in fact find himself managing a coordination role and carrying a significant amount of responsibility for the department's construction work».
"Anomalous dynamics are emerging," complains group leader Paolo Truzzu . "Masotti, whose responsibilities are unclear, has long proclaimed himself project coordinator, issuing operational instructions and dictating the timetable, even setting the department's inauguration date for December 5th. We want to understand in what capacity and under what guise he has operated so far in such a delicate context, and on what basis he performed this role, which was partially finalized with yesterday's resolution."
According to regional councilor Fausto Piga, "we are witnessing yet another opaque act in the management of Sardinian healthcare. We demand clarity on the procedures followed to hire Masotti, as well as his actual role within the chain of command. Patient safety and compliance with the rules cannot be sacrificed on the altar of purely propagandistic ribbon-cutting ceremonies."
