Giuseppe Mellino was 38 years old and he was a construction worker. His death, which occurred in Palau on the afternoon of May 31, had been classified and filed as the consequence of an illness, of a stroke. Instead the worker from Ozieri, it was discovered only yesterday, is the umpteenth victim of an accident at work . The coroner who carried out the autopsy reported to the Tempio Prosecutor's Office that Mellino died of a crushing injury . The rib cage, the victim's internal organs are mangled. Internal bleeding left the worker no way out. The accident at work was discovered thanks to the intuition of the public prosecutor Mauro Lavra and the labor inspectors of the Spresal of the ASL of Olbia. According to what has been detected in the last few hours (the reconstruction must be verified) Mellino was crushed by the telescopic arm of a "Merlo" . The victim was on the vehicle (sitting sideways outside the driving position) together with the employer, who was instead behind the wheel.

Investigated

The accident occurred in the Cala Lepre area. The "Merlo", according to the verifications of the Spresal of the ASL of Olbia, was on the move outside a construction site, to be transferred from one area to another. The person who was driving the vehicle, as well as the victim's employer, is under investigation for manslaughter and will have to provide many explanations on his conduct . Still according to the ongoing investigations, when the alarm was raised and the first rescuers arrived in Cala Lepre (14.30 on Tuesday) they found Mellino lying on the ground. But the telehandler was not on the road, near the worker's body. Because? Furthermore, the employer would have said, at least initially, that he saw the employee collapse and faint. A reconstruction of the facts that has not found confirmation . Yesterday, however, the person driving the "Merlo" spoke about the accident that took place on the vehicle. The investigations will continue today with new investigations.

Dying from work

Giuseppe Mellino was born in Parma and had lived for years in Emilia, but he was from Ozieri. He had no children.
