According to their social media page, the Friends of Talmone and Cala di Trana, who have been committed for years to protecting the environment (particularly that of the towns for which they are named) and to educating and raising environmental awareness among citizens and institutions, responded this afternoon to the Porto Concato area, just a few meters from the sea, by officers from the Municipal Police and the Regional Forestry Corps. They reportedly fined a camper and three camper vans, both Italian and foreign, that were parked despite a no-parking sign.
In one instance, a cooking operation was reportedly underway under a juniper tree. The sanctions were applauded by the Friends of Talmone and Cala di Trana. It's probably worth remembering that the presence and overnight parking of campers and other vehicles, in addition to potential health and environmental problems, significantly increases the risk of fires, a scourge painfully familiar in Sardinia where, this year too, thousands upon thousands of hectares of Mediterranean scrub and forests have been burned, in addition to the economic damage to residents and the community.
