He was spending a day off in Palau when he heard desperate screams coming from the sea. "Without hesitation, Gianmarco, an off-duty police officer, dived into the waves to help a woman in distress, swept out to sea by a strong current."

Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi announced the news and congratulated him on his courage. Reaching the woman was no easy task: the sea was resisting intensely, but "he continued swimming until he grabbed her and brought her to shore, putting his own safety at risk," emphasized the Meloni government official.

Thanks to his timely intervention, the woman was saved and entrusted to the care of those present.
