Proclaimed mayor yesterday evening, he was suspended from office this morning by the prefect of Nuoro for the second time in less than a fortnight .

Franco Saba , re-elected to lead the Municipality of Ottana despite being under house arrest due to the investigation into alleged attempted extortion carried out by the Nuoro Public Prosecutor's Office and the DIGOS (Italian Special Operations Division), will not be able to carry out his duties as mayor.

The measure was adopted by Prefect Alessandra Nigro this morning in application of the Severino Law, the day after the official proclamation. It was notified to the Region and the newly elected mayor. Just yesterday, the Sassari Court of Review had confirmed the precautionary measure of house arrest against Saba.

The former mayor, the sole candidate in the municipal elections of June 7 and 8, won his third consecutive term thanks to a 60.79% turnout, exceeding the required quorum. Now, however, the second suspension opens a new administrative and political chapter for the Municipality of Ottana while the investigation by the Nuoro Prosecutor's Office continues.
