Urban mobility returns to the forefront of politics. On Monday, the majority will meet to address two issues aimed at redesigning the historic center: the final approval of the Limited Traffic Zone and the future management of paid parking. The meeting, originally scheduled for last week, was postponed due to the absence of the Sardinian Action Party.
"The resolutions on the ZTL and parking service are ready, the parties have requested a majority meeting and I'm waiting for the decision," explains Roads Councillor Paolo Angioi.
The ZTL had already been agreed upon by the coalition at the May 12 summit, when the perimeter, electronic gates, and trial hours were confirmed: Monday to Friday from 8:30 pm to 7:30 am and at weekends from 1:30 pm on Saturday to 7:30 am on Monday, with a three-month grace period to allow citizens to familiarize themselves with the new system.
In June, the commander of the local police Gianni Uras had clarified that any changes
They would have requested "amendments to the regulations and resolutions as well." That step is now obsolete. The issue is now purely political.
The other issue concerns paid parking. "We're waiting for the meeting. My proposal is for an external concession," adds Angioi, confirming a different stance than the option, explored in recent months, of outsourcing the service to the in-house company Oristano Servizi. Final decisions on both issues could emerge from Monday's meeting.
