With the 2027 local elections now looming, the first pieces of Oristano's new political landscape are beginning to fall into place: Giuliano Uras and Ivano Cuccu have joined Futuro Nazionale, allowing the party founded by Roberto Vannacci to enter the Provincial Council and paving the way for possible new structures in the Evangelisti chamber as well.
The announcement came in a statement from the provincial coordination body, which called the membership "a significant step in the movement's local roots." In welcoming the new members, regional coordinator Gian Luca Dessì and provincial coordinator Roberto Zedda emphasized that "the political and administrative experience, combined with the professionalism of Uras and Cuccu, will be a valuable contribution to the growth of Futuro Nazionale in the Province, as well as an added value for the development and future of Oristano."
The move comes three months after the crisis that reshaped the balance of power at Palazzo degli Scolopi. In March, a united front within the majority, composed of the Brothers of Italy, the UDC, and the PSD'Az, had asked Mayor Massimiliano Sanna to remove Urban Planning Councilor Ivano Cuccu. The subsequent mini-reshuffle marked the definitive split: Uras, Cuccu, and Roberto Pisanu had led Oristano to the opposition Center, opening one of the most delicate political transitions of the council term.
While the official entry today concerns the Provincial Council, the effects are set to ripple through to the municipal level, where the arrival of Councilor Roberto Pisanu in Futuro Nazionale is almost certain. In recent months, Futuro Nazionale had already welcomed former Social Services Councilor Carmen Murru, who was also left out of the Sanna government's mini-reshuffle.
