In a few days, numerous car thefts have been recorded and there is starting to be some concern in Oristano, especially in the Sant'Efisio and Sacro Cuore area where several incidents have occurred, promptly reported to the police station. The police immediately strengthened their controls, while citizens asked the Municipality for greater security and an improvement in the public lighting system.

The first reports came from via Sassari where last weekend some citizens found their car burgled: loose change and other objects that had been left in the passenger compartment were taken away. A few days later, the same script and identical complaints from the streets of Dorgali, Lanusei, Amsicora, Arborea and Nuoro. The thieves made off with coins, wallets and even some scratch cards found on a dashboard.

It's probably some thug looking for easy money but several owners have filed a complaint at the police headquarters and the police have strengthened their control services in the targeted districts. Investigations are underway to try to identify those responsible.

Meanwhile, from the Municipality, the councilor for Urban Planning Ivano Cuccu announces that «with the new contract the replacement of five thousand light points is already planned». The first interventions should begin in January, in the meantime citizens are asking for more security and some cameras. «Given that Oristano is and remains a quiet city, which the police forces regularly monitor - continues the representative of the Sanna Council - it must be said that to expand the video surveillance system we need resources that we don't have at the moment. We could work on a security project for some neighborhoods and request funding from the Region or the Ministry."
