A serious act of vandalism occurred in broad daylight in Oristano. Someone set fire to the former Mossa high school on Via Diaz, just steps from the Palace of Justice.

The flames broke out in the early afternoon on the first floor of the school, which houses several classes from the hotel management, classical high school, and teacher training colleges. Smoke billowing from the windows raised the alarm, and Oristano firefighters arrived on the scene and put out the blaze.

According to initial reports, the vandals attempted to flood the school by opening the bathroom faucets, then set fire to a photocopier located in the first-floor corridor, in the wing of the school used by the Hotel Management School. From there, the flames spread, devastating all the rooms on the first floor, the classrooms, and the vice president's office. The building was completely engulfed in smoke, with extensive damage reported, and all systems completely destroyed.

The firefighters cleared the building and secured the entire area: the first floor was declared unfit for use.

Police are on the scene, including a patrol from the Flying Squad, the Mobile Squad, and the Forensic Unit, which is conducting detailed investigations. The investigation is being coordinated by the Chief of the Flying Squad, Samuele Cabizzosu. Investigations are ongoing, but the attack is clearly suspected of being intentional. Investigators are reviewing footage from surveillance cameras in the area.

The police headquarters, led by Giovanni Marziano, appeals to anyone who notices anything unusual near the school today, or even yesterday, to report it immediately.

This evening, the provincial administrator, Battista Ghisu, also visited the site. He's currently unable to estimate the damage, but estimates it could run into thousands of euros. Workers from the province's in-house company will begin initial work tomorrow .
