One million euros for bike lanes, with two projects already completed: the connection between Via Campanelli and Viale Repubblica, along the ring road, and the completion of the lanes on Viale Brianza. Oristano is thus attempting to strengthen the bike network in the most critical areas, where traffic currently poses a risk to cyclists.
The funding comes from the Regional Department of Public Works, through the Fund for the Development of Intermodal Urban Cycle Paths, and aims to improve safety and integration with public transportation. The first project will connect the northern entrance to the city with the existing network and with Torre Grande, while protected lanes, one in each direction, will be created on Viale Brianza.
Work is planned on paving, signage, LED lighting, and demarcation systems, with approved raised kerbs and high-visibility materials to reduce risks.
"Thanks to this funding, we will be able to achieve an important result for our city," emphasizes Mayor Massimiliano Sanna. " We continue to invest in more sustainable, safe, and modern mobility, concretely implementing the Urban Mobility Plan, improving connections between different neighborhoods and between the city and the Torre Grande marina . This is a step forward toward a more livable and environmentally friendly city."
"This project represents a further step in the development of the urban bike network and the promotion of alternative and sustainable forms of mobility for the city of Oristano," adds Councilor for Public Works Gianfranco Licheri. " The goal is to create a modern and safe cycling infrastructure along a strategic artery of the city's traffic. We have focused on quality technical solutions, with durable materials and high-visibility signage, to encourage daily cycling and reduce the risks associated with coexisting with vehicular traffic."
