Mayor Massimiliano Sanna dismisses the council and officially ushers in a new political era. Oristano is moving toward its fifth executive in just under four years of office.

This morning, the mayor signed the decree revoking the councilor positions and related responsibilities of the deputy mayor and city councilors. The revocation is effective immediately . This is an expected decision, which came after weeks of tension and negotiations, and was formalized—as stated in the statement—"pending a reorganization of the political landscape."

In the next few hours, Sanna will receive a shortlist of three names from the individual parties in the majority for each department he wishes to replace. From these, he will select the new members of the executive that will accompany him through the final stretch of his term. The stated goal is to conclude the term with a team capable of ensuring administrative stability and continuity.

The crisis officially began in early February, when the Brothers of Italy party—supported by the UDC and PSD'AZ—called for the dismissal of Urban Planning Councilor Ivano Cuccu. Since then, internal conflict within the majority has become increasingly heated, culminating in the drastic decision to eliminate him.
