The autopsy will shed full light on the causes of the death of Pietro Murru, the 75-year-old bricklayer who died in hospital after being involved in a car accident yesterday afternoon just outside Oristano.
According to what has been learned, initially the collision did not seem serious: shortly after 4pm, immediately after the overpass at the entrance to the Tirso bridge, an Alfa 156 hit the Fiat Punto in which Murru was traveling with his wife. The impact was rather violent but none of the people involved appeared to be in critical condition: they were all taken to the emergency room as a precaution. Here suddenly the situation worsened for Murru, originally from Massama: he had a cardiac arrest and despite attempts at resuscitation there was nothing that could be done. The wife, however, is hospitalized for observation, while the driver of the Alfa left the emergency room.
The traffic police, on the orders of prosecutor Andrea Chelo, seized the vehicles and an autopsy was also ordered. The driver of the Alfa risks being investigated for vehicular homicide.
