Forty years of “played” career, spent between discos, radios and squares making entire generations dance. For the people of the night the name of Sandro Azzena is a guarantee in the musical panorama of Oristano and the island. From his debut at Merak in the distant 1983, to the revival evenings that continue to gather under his console a heterogeneous audience, he has not stopped cultivating his passion, which he is now ready to share with the students of the Don Deodato Meloni Institute thanks to a project that will bring DJing to the school desks.
"I am really enthusiastic about this initiative strongly desired by the school principal, Bruno Sanna", he says, "I believe it is one of the first at a regional level: about twenty kids have already joined . I feel a great responsibility towards the young people that I will try to intrigue and get passionate about this fantastic world with theory but above all with practice".
Always on the dance floor since the early 1980s, Azzena has seen some of the most popular clubs of the time flourish in the province: from Menhir to Energy, passing through Capanna, Mina Club, Why Not. "In those years we were among the best in Italy. The discos on the Oristano coast, including the winter ones, had dizzying numbers," he explains, "The scene has changed profoundly because society has transformed." Young people and fun included.
"I always wonder what we of the older generation would have been like with a smartphone in our hands and a very fast connection available," observes the musician, "we would probably have been exactly like the kids of today. Yet they are curious about our times, we should accompany them. This is why I think the idea of bringing the console to school is brilliant, it's a way to bring us closer together."
