More threats to the company that is carrying out the work on the Cumbidanovu dam in Orgosolo .
On the wall of the church of San Marco, painted perhaps last weekend with black paint, the writing “Via la mafia siciliana dalla diga” appeared.
Tensions remain very high in the town following the recent news events ( the shooting at the cars of workers working on the construction site and the wounding of a forestry worker) for which the mayor Pasquale Mereu had called a public meeting .
"It is a shame for us to record these episodes - says Ambrogio Guiso, president of the Consorzio di bonifica della Sardegna, the main contractor for the work -. The company that resumed the work is from Vicenza so Sicily has nothing to do with it, only some technicians are Sicilian but they are often professionals who are not on site. The company has already hired 15 employees all from Orgosolo and will probably hire another 17 by January. Just as the workers of the related industries, the catering service or cleaning, can be managed by companies from Orgosolo compatibly with the professionalism present ".
Guiso also underlines the importance of the work, which «within three years will solve the water problem of many towns in Barbagia and Baronia. The delivery of the works to the Icm company of Vicenza took place at the beginning of November. 110 million euros have been allocated for the unfinished project, to which another 34 million have been added in previous years. Once completed, the dam will have a capacity of 13.32 million cubic meters and will be used to supply water for irrigation purposes for approximately 2,800 hectares of agricultural land, for industrial uses with a continuous flow of fifty liters per second in the municipalities of Orgosolo, Oliena, Nuoro, Orune, Lula and Dorgali and a small part for the production of electricity. But the reservoir will also be of help to the Cedrino, in case of a shortage of water, thus strengthening the network of the lower Baronia, which this year has suffered more than others from the drought.
