The community's solidarity comes immediately after the serious incident that occurred yesterday evening in Orgosolo , where the car of the director of the Priamo Gallisay Female Choir, Maria Bonaria Monne, was riddled with gunshots while she was giving a singing lesson .
The incident occurred yesterday around 9:30 PM. The car of Monne, founder and director of the Priamo Gallisay Women's Choir of Nuoro since 2008, was parked on Via Repubblica , near the former Orgosolo town hall, a building granted by the administration to local associations. At the time, the director was giving a lesson at a local association.
Former mayor and current minority group leader Dionigi Deledda also spoke out about the incident, announcing a concrete support initiative. "We were shocked to learn of the attack on teacher Maria Bonaria Monne last night, who was teaching choir lessons in town," Deledda said. "We believe that, beyond the formal condemnations, the community must send, as it has done on other occasions in the past, a concrete signal of the isolation of this minority, capable only of harming the community as well as themselves. For this reason, we are promoting a fundraiser to repair the car damaged by the gunfire, and we will announce the details in the coming hours ."
Among the first to take a stand was Giovanna Fadda, a choir member and union representative , who publicly expressed her support for the musician. "What happened last night in Orgosolo deeply shocked me. Maria Bonaria Monne's car was riddled with gunshots while she was giving a singing lesson. A cowardly, unjustifiable act that strikes not only a respected professional, but a woman who has dedicated her life to music and choral singing. For me, however, Maria Bonaria isn't "just" my choir teacher: she's a lifelong friend. We grew up together in the old Ennio Porrino polyphony, sharing rehearsals, emotions, stages, and dreams. Our bond began when we were fifteen and has never been broken since. Today I want to publicly tell her that I am with her with all my heart, as a choir member, as a colleague in the music world, but above all as a friend. My solidarity is total, as is my condemnation of those who use violence to intimidate and hurt. Music unites, it does not divide, and those who sow fear will never be able to extinguish the strength, dignity, and light of those who, like her, work every day to increase beauty . Strength, Maria Bonaria. We are with you.
