The autopsy, scheduled for tomorrow morning in Cagliari , will clarify a crucial aspect of Tonino Pireddu's murder: how many shots were fired and from what distance. The examination will be performed by coroner Roberto Demontis , commissioned by Public Prosecutor Ricardo Belfiori, and will provide crucial evidence to accurately reconstruct the dynamics of the attack.

Pireddu, a 38-year-old worker from Orani , was shot in the back around 9:30 PM last night while returning home from work on Corso Italia . The killer apparently operated from the shadows, surprising him outside and leaving him with no escape route. It remains unclear whether more than one shot was fired.

After the arson attack last December, when Pireddu and his partner's cars were set on fire , the couple decided to install surveillance cameras in that very area. Investigators are now evaluating whether the devices may have recorded anything useful, considering that the perpetrators showed remarkable boldness, well aware of the cameras' presence, but determined to strike nonetheless.

Pireddu had a clean criminal record and was known in the village for his passion for hunting and dogs, interests he shared with friends and acquaintances. Law enforcement is interviewing family members and people with knowledge of the matter to reconstruct the victim's final hours and determine any possible links to previous suspicious incidents.

The community is in shock. Mayor Marco Ziranu announced the suspension of Carnival events , with the town coming to a standstill as a sign of respect . Meanwhile, investigations continue vigorously to identify whoever pulled the trigger.
