This morning the Carabinieri survey team from Nuoro returned to Corso Italia in Orani, where Tonino Pireddu, 38, a worker, was killed during the night between yesterday and today, hit by a rifle shot in the back .

Investigators conducted a new inspection under daylight to verify the presence of any traces that remained unnoticed in the first hours after the crime and to precisely reconstruct the dynamics of the ambush.

Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor Ricardo Belfiori has entrusted coroner Roberto Demontis with the task of performing an autopsy, a crucial step in clarifying the trajectory of the shot, the distance from which it was fired, and any other details useful to the investigation.

Investigators are also delving into the victim's past, specifically an arson attack that occurred last December, when Pireddu and his partner's cars were set ablaze. This incident is now back at the center of the investigation to determine whether there might be a connection to the murder and whether the same person was behind the two incidents.

The news deeply shocked the entire community, which was preparing for Carnival celebrations. Following the grave loss, Mayor Marco Ziranu announced the suspension of scheduled events.

"Due to the grave loss that has struck our community," he wrote on social media, "the municipal administration, the Pro Loco, the Su Bundhu mask association, the float group, and everyone involved in organizing the events have decided to temporarily cancel the Oran Carnival, postponing it to a date to be determined. We offer our sincere condolences to the family, deeply saddened and dismayed. Whoever dared to commit this act has also gravely wounded our entire community."

A shocked town has come to a standstill as a sign of respect, while law enforcement continues its work tirelessly to shed full light on the murder.
