No more afternoon opening, building shrouded in darkness in the evening hours: the new location of the Pula Post Office is not convincing, temporarily moved from via San Giovanni due to the adaptation works of the old building, to the premises located behind the Palazzetto dello Sport.
The councillors of the minority group Siamo Pula , led by group leader Ilaria Collu , raised the issue and stigmatised the choice of an area with so little traffic in the evening hours.
"For days this very important service has been moved to a completely unsuitable location - complains Ilaria Collu -, the building, located behind the Palazzetto dello Sport, is immersed in total darkness, a real problem for those who go to withdraw money from the ATM after sunset. In practice, walking along those streets in the evening hours, we go from a hyper-lit and not yet used structure like the Palazzetto, in the face of energy savings and public goods, to the most intense darkness of what should now be a supervised and highly secure place . The entire area should have been under video surveillance, equipped with signs with very precise instructions: the further insult is that the transfer occurred without any warning, thus creating major inconveniences for citizens. We hope that the administration, after this unfortunate choice of location, will report these problems to Poste Italiane".
In the meantime , the mayor, Walter Cabasino, wrote a letter to the provincial director of the company to ask for some improvements : "Although we are aware that Poste Italiane is a private company that provides public services and in sharing the reasons for the renovation, we interpret some of the citizens' requests, which we are available to agree and support. Among the critical issues, users complain about the poor lighting in the area and the lack of seats in the waiting room . Then, there are some non-secondary aspects, such as the contraction of the limited hours only in the morning, the lack of internal security and privacy, the absence of signs that indicate to citizens the reasons for the closure and the new address".
The deputy mayor and councilor for Public Works, Elisabetta Loi, clarifies the choice of the Palazzetto: « We do not have other premises of that type and especially in an area with parking ; the alternative was to move the offices into containers, a solution that would have worsened the solution, or even worse having to reach Villa San Pietro. In the Post Office on Via San Giovanni, urgent interventions are underway, which will allow the elimination of the asbestos present in the structures: the reopening to the public should take place in April».
