«Three days and three nights waiting for a departure that is not granted ».

This is the odyssey to which numerous heads of beef cattle are subjected in Olbia together with hauliers, producers and purchasing companies while waiting for the cattle to be loaded and reach their final destination.

The complaint comes from Annalisa Manca (FdI), regional councilor and member of the V Permanent Commission for Productive Activities.

«The flag carriers were preventing boarding – explains Manca today in a note – on the grounds of "rough seas" . The situation today is truly serious, and I have sadly been able to see it firsthand."

«We are talking, first of all – continues Manca – about the lack of respect for animal welfare », about «innumerable inconveniences for those who cannot leave with their load (even if equipped with a regular ticket) and on the other hand have the need to look for suitable places in which to keep cattle during the day and night, with a very serious negative impact on the economy of Sardinia , which is already paying the price of its insularity perpetually aggravated by attitudes, such as this, which damage, albeit indirectly, the image of a land that it trades, breeds and grows high-level products like few others and like few others it suffers from the inconveniences linked to transport and periodic health restrictions which cause a loss of turnover and negatively impact the company's economies".

«To all this inconvenience – adds Manca – is added the insult of being promised a departure for tomorrow with a very different final destination compared to the original , from Civitavecchia diverted to Livorno with delays and further consequent inconveniences. It's time to say enough and stand in favor of our farmers, our entrepreneurs, and ask that their work and their earnings are respected as they deserve."

«I spoke personally with our Deputy, Salvatore Sasso Deidda, who had already dealt with this issue, obtaining in that context the increase in connections from Olbia to Marina di Carrara with a view to ever improving logistics management, with the Transport Councilor Antonio Moro and with the president of the port authority on how urgent it is to find solutions and work so that boarding rules do not become limits for our companies. Perhaps following the model of France, just to name one, where certain types of transport, such as that of live animals, have absolute priority to promote respect for their lives and well-being and to facilitate those who live from this work", the conclusion.
