Olbia, shipyard destroyed in attack: millions of euros in damage

He is the inventor of a vessel that has made the history of Olbia's nautical industry, the planing gozzo. Tonino Fundoni, 80 years old, suffered damages worth several million euros last night, a fire completely destroyed his shipyard in Rudalza , a hamlet in the territory of Porto Rotondo.

And the investigations revealed a disturbing truth : the fire was intentional. Various triggers were found that transformed a possible accident into an attack.

The flames have obliterated everything. A twenty-meter yacht that was apparently ready for delivery, dinghies, fiberglass boats and various vehicles that were outside the shipyard, trucks and cranes, went up in flames.

All the machinery and material that was on the construction site were also destroyed. Tonino Fundoni reached his company this morning for an initial on-site inspection. The load-bearing structure of the construction site shed collapsed, the fire caused irreparable damage .

The investigations were entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Olbia Territorial Department and the Porto Rotondo Station.
