“The aggressions and unrest within Italian prisons continue. Situation reached its limit ". This was reported by Alessandro De Pasquale , president of the Sippe Penitentiary Police union, referring, in a note, to an episode that took place in the Tempio Pausania prison .

"It all started at about 19, when a considerable number of troublemakers who would have been pushed by futile reasons, would have kidnapped two officers and would have threatened them with knives and pointing their blades at the throats of the policemen, would have taken possession of the keys, fomenting the rebellion . After the intervention of the other policemen - continues De Pasquale - security would have been restored, also thanks to the difficult mediation conducted personally by the commander " .

“After the well-known riots that took place in the Covid period and the events in Santa Maria Capua Vetere - reports Sippe -, we are witnessing an escalation of critical events in prisons, including continuous attacks and riots. It is therefore advisable to create a group, at every level, of prompt intervention , well equipped and trained, ready to intervene in case of need ".

According to De Pasquale, "the law exists, it is only necessary to implement it and the same states that order and discipline in prisons guarantee the safety which is the condition for the realization of the aims of the treatment of prisoners and inmates".

In Lazio, for example, concludes De Pasquale, "the emergency response group is already there but it must be decreed at the national level, as done for the NIC and GOM with clear and shared rules".
