The mayor of Olbia has been sent to trial in the proceedings concerning alleged building abuses in his villa in Sottomonte, in the municipality of Golfo Aranci .
Settimo Nizzi will have to answer for a change of intended use of a basement that would have been transformed into a habitable space, a landscape violation, while he was acquitted of the charge of illegal subdivision .
Preliminary hearing judge Federica Distefano rejected prosecutor Alessandro Bosco's request to seize the villa . Luigi Guerri, the person in charge of the works, and Giovanni Antonio Spano, the project manager, will also stand trial on the same charges, while three other people will face charges of forgery. The construction charges have expired. The hearing is scheduled for March.
The investigation began in 2019 after investigations by the Forestry Corps. The villa was seized and subsequently released, and the Regional Administrative Court (TAR) also ruled on the various permits. Now the courts have the final say.
