The initial project envisaged a cost of 70 million, plus VAT. The latest update of the economic and financial plan for the construction of the new Cagliari stadium, with a capacity of 25,200 that can be expanded to 31,000 seats, reports spending more than doubled: 157.4 million. To which you must always add VAT. And it is not a trivial element. Because reductions and incentives could intervene on the tax, so the actual final disbursement could be variable. What is certain is that the new rossoblù house will cost more than double what was assumed when the first spending plan was drawn up.

The new accounts are reported in detail in the papers that Cagliari football sent to the Municipality of Cagliari in the evening.

Another step in a procedure that seems endless. The tables available, received by the town hall, will be examined by managers and technicians, who will then transmit them to the political side: the update of the Pef will have to pass to the city council to obtain confirmation of the public interest already approved in 2019.

The Municipality will then have to ask the Region for authorization to be delegated to open the decision-making Conference of Services. And only from when will the 180 days start to run for the definitive ok. The tender for the assignment of the works will follow, which should last two years. But it is premature to hypothesize a date for the completion of the construction site.

A doubt remains: who will put the money? The agreements provide for an intervention by the Municipality of Cagliari for 10 million. Another 50 or so should come from the Region. On several occasions, various departments had ensured complete collaboration on the disbursement of the entire amount to be paid by the public. In recent days, from the columns of L'Unione Sarda, the regional councilor for Tourism Gianni Chessa held the brakes, wondering if such a massive investment of public resources would be appropriate.

In the meantime, the project has returned to the Municipality, with the bill on the penny. Money that will be used to build the stadium, yes, but also a 4-star superior hotel with 122 rooms, a panoramic restaurant on the roof overlooking the sea, a wellness center connected to the hotel but open to all, finally a modular area to host congresses up to 1000 people at the same time. As well as rooms with a view directly on the pitch.
