A combination of sport, health, and solidarity, factors that find valuable allies in associations, true champions of charitable initiatives, such as those long-standing by Fidapa – Porto Torres chapter. The proceeds from the 18th edition of "Navicula Turritana – Sport for Research" were presented this morning in the reception room of the Palazzo del Marchese, in the presence of Mayor Massimo Mulas and Councilor for Culture Maria Bastiana Cocco.

The €4,000 raised will be used to purchase medical supplies for the radiotherapy department at the AOU Sassari, contributing to improving patient services and care. Specifically, the funds will be used to purchase a ten-compartment medicine trolley and an open stainless steel wardrobe with wheels for storing bed linens. The meeting was attended by Fidapa President Maria Lucia Fancellu, Antonio Contu, President of the "Mariangela Pinna" Oncology Association, who thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the initiative, including on behalf of Salvatrice Silvana Campoccia, Director of the Radiotherapy Complex Unit, Antonello Cabitta, President of the Culture Commission, and representatives of the associations that participated in tournaments, exhibitions, competitions, various sports events, and the traditional "Torchlight Procession at Sea" of Navicula 2025. During the meeting, the essential importance of the support of local partners and associations was emphasized.

Mayor Mulas and Councilor Cocco emphasized how collaboration, shared responsibilities, and teamwork are key to tackling challenges and achieving concrete results for the benefit of the entire community. Even the most demanding tasks are manageable when the burden is shared equally, and this approach has become not only a merit but a true practice for the citizens of Turrita. The event, organized by Fidapa between July and September, began in 2007 with the aim of raising funds for medical research scholarships, in memory of Dr. Elisabetta Fara, a member of Fidapa Turrita. Since then, the members have continued this significant awareness-raising effort, involving an ever-increasing number of organizations and citizens in the fundraising effort. This year, the associations involved were: SardegnAmbiente, Aquatic Team Freedom SSD Srl, Associazione Piscine Libyssonis, Acquafitness Aquatic, Acquafitness Area Fitness, ASD Azen Kayak, Tennis Club Porto Torres, ASD Porto Torres Scacchi, Happy Fitness, Uisp, Progetto Albatross, Scout Cngei Porto Torres, and Consulta del Volontariato Portotorres. The support of volunteers, who made their boats available to support the activities at sea, was also crucial.
