Tomorrow 3 August, at 10, the guarantee interrogation of Gabriele Cabras, a 19-year-old from Cagliari residing in Sinnai, accused of the murder of Gabriele Pergola, 43, from Quartu, which took place at dawn on Monday in a b&b in via Nazionale in Quartucciu. The next day, instead, at 3.30 pm, in the parish of the Sacred Heart of Quartu, the funeral of the victim, strangled at dawn with a towel ( HERE THE NEWS ).
In the next few hours, therefore, further details could emerge on the reason for a crime committed after a meeting scheduled for Sunday evening. On the modalities , the result of the autopsy on Pergola's body ordered by the prosecutor Diana Lecca, carried out today by the coroner Roberto Demontis, is awaited.
It is not excluded that the nineteen year old, assisted by the lawyer Giovanni Cabras, decides to speak - not making use of the right not to answer - and to provide the judge with useful elements to clarify what happened on that night that ended in a murder.
A story that still has some obscure points, even if for the investigators it appears already closed. It seems certain that Gabriele Pergola and Gabriele Cabras had a telephone contact in the late afternoon on Sunday, opting for the meeting in the b&b.
Did the two have something to clarify? What were the real reasons that prompted (if that really happened) the young man from Sinnai to grab a towel by squeezing it around the neck of the Quartese entrepreneur, owner of a betting agency and a bar, until he suffocated and killed him ? So many things to clarify even if what happened in the room of the accommodation structure would have been filmed by security cameras, probably giving the carabinieri of Quartu and Selargius, and therefore the magistrate, all the indications for the reconstruction of that dramatic night in which the witnesses heard screams and commotion.
The origin of the banknotes (600 euros in all) that were seized from the suspect immediately after his arrest in Sinnai also remains to be clarified. Is it his money? Or were they given to him by the businessman killed or did he take them away after the crime? At the moment, the boy is not accused of theft or robbery, but only of murder. The carabinieri maintain a strict, understandable reserve on the matter. But already in the next few days the picture of the investigation should definitely take shape.
