Easter falling in early April isn't conducive to tourism , but action is needed to extend the tourist season. This morning , Stefano Visconti, president of the Sassari Chamber of Commerce , shared his thoughts and proposed some solutions. "If we want to extend the tourist season, the Sardinia Region must intervene on the municipal surtax."
President Visconti explains: "That €6.50 not only affects each passenger, but represents the difference between profit and loss during the low season." This is also why the response from accommodation facilities has been lukewarm: only one in three will open for the two Easter holidays.
Calabria already eliminated the landing tax for Lamezia Terme, Crotone, and Reggio Calabria in 2024, which has boomed from a marginal airport. In Sicily, the surcharge for the small airports of Trapani and Comiso has been eliminated since January of this year.
The Chamber of Commerce then offers its expertise to help improve the island's tourism offering.
