First, she was struck by a sudden illness, knocking her to the ground lifeless. Immediately afterward, he suffered a seizure, leading to his death.

These were dramatic and fatal moments in the house on Via San Giovanni in Maracalagonis, where last Wednesday the lifeless bodies of mother and son were found: Teresa Vacca, 82, and Marco Durzu, 58.

There is no mystery behind the tragedy, which probably occurred around dinner time.

Teresa Vacca was caring for her son, who had been bedridden for years, bringing him a plate of cold cuts. However, before reaching the bedroom, she was taken ill, falling heavily to the floor and dying within minutes.

The son noticed what was happening. They were probably tense moments, with the man having a seizure, then falling ill and dying in his own bed.

The results of the post-mortem examination carried out by coroner Roberto Demontis, commissioned by prosecutor Daniele Caria, clarified the dynamics.

The bodies are expected to be released to relatives soon for funeral services.
